Malachi 4:6 Your take on this passage?

I asked this question at another forum recently and one member had the question that solves the mystery, and knew the mystery also, about the passage. Why is it that Jesus stated that members of your own family would become your enemies? Why does this differ with Malachi stating that famlies would be reunited? Or, as the more washed out versions state, "Return the hearts of the children to their parents and the hearts of the parents to their children?"

families = people of relation

this could mean more than just mommy and daddy, but also uncle alien

a family reunion then could mean first contact and or induction into the galactic councils to have our own say in our neck of the galaxy

on a more personal note, we would get to meet our makers, well our NA engineers, not "the father" himself

some of our "family" could easily be our enemy as well, as we are and have been easy taken advantage of

so an indication of multiple factions of beings out there and here and how they may treat us could be meant by "members of your own family would become your enemies"

5 Behold, I will send you Elijah the prophet before the great and awesome day of the Lord comes. 6 And he will turn the hearts of fathers to their children and the hearts of children to their fathers, lest I come and strike the land with a decree of utter destruction.

I take this to mean that the prophet Elijah will herald in a period of truce and grant the denizens of our planet an opportunity to freely choose allegiance, fealty and loyalty to their true creator and master. If this period of realignment does not unequivocally reestablish that ancient filial bond, then the creator and master will shower down more than a few crater chains to show earthlings who is really in charge. The fiery rain of 'utter destruction' will most likely be selective as it is probable that many will heed this call and many others will not.

34 Do not think that I have come to bring peace to the earth. I have not come to bring peace, but a sword. 35 For I have come to set a man against his father, and a daughter against her mother, and a daughter-in-law against her mother-in-law. 36 And a person's enemies will be those of his own household. 37 Whoever loves father or mother more than me is not worthy of me, and whoever loves son or daughter more than me is not worthy of me.

This passage does not contradict Malachi 4:6, but adds the stern admonition that allegiance to our heavenly father trumps all of our earthly relations - even those of biological kinship.

As I have mentioned this on a couple of web sites now and never gave my two cents worth, here it is. As it seems to contradict the statement by King Jesus that is quoted above, in reality after you do this simple word study in a greek / hebrew dictionary or Strongs Exhaustive Concordance will show the truth of the statement quite clearly.

For those that don't have such research books, here is the solution in a nut shell.

It is the usage and changed words for "father", "sons", and "heart".
Father is our Creator / god.
Sons are the men and women of mankind on earth.
Heart you will find to be stated as "heart" and "hearts", the plural makes a big difference.

So, it should read thus; "Turn the heart of the Father to mankind, and the hearts of mankind to the Father".

Now does it make sense to you?

I fully agree

which is why I find your approach towards the Bible refreshing as I have used it as a historical reference often in trying to piece together some ideas of mine in the past cooberating other sacred text. I never thought to look at it as a technical manual as well.

One would think that they (so called world class scholars) would have done at least the minimal research on such a passage as this one. They all have it wrong. If I didn't know that this has been done intentionally I would be mighty embarrassed if I were them.

So, it should read thus; "Turn the heart of the Father to mankind, and the hearts of mankind to the Father".

This is a very big difference, makes a very big difference, from the way it is published.

The heart of the Father, would be the heart of our Creator. Our Creator is YHWH, Jehovah, Elohim, Father... all the same sentient intelligent being.
Jesus is not the Creator or Father, these are two different sentient intelligent beings. I hope I stated that correctly for you to understand.

Members of ones own home, a daughter, a son, their offspring, a sister, a brother, their siblings, a wife, a husband, their parents etc would be enemies. Two thirds of the population will not believe or understand this information and will not accept that we have a Creator, we have a Brother named Jesus and that Jesus walked on this Earth, died, came back to life and left to establish the Kingdom, the Government of the Universe.

I can see how they (some of them) could be enemies, rather than would be. enemies, so I dont get the "would be enemies"

I think what Gale is saying, correct me if i'm wrong, is that the two thirds are the ones that don't believe in our creator or accept him and will see him as an enemy so it could be anyone we know.... the ones who understand this and accept this are part of the one third.. that's what I make of it.

Indeed they do! From personal experience they will condemn you as "crazy", they will start vicious rumors with other family members to turn them against you, they will become cruel with their words and actions directly at you, and eventually they will deny you contact of any kind as well. A strong constitution and remembering what Christ himself said about his own relatives that "those who do the will of God are my brothers, sisters and mothers", will pull us all through these end times.

The Peshitta:

5 Behold, I will send you Elijah the prophet before the coming of the great and dreadful day of the Lord; 6 And he shall turn the heart of the fathers to the children and the heart of the children to their fathers before I come and smite the earth to ruin.

Note that heart is singular while fathers and children are both plural. It's plainly a verse of reconciliation. If "fathers" refers to God, could this be a reference back to Genesis where God is plural..."Let us make man in our image...?" And since heart is singular, it seems to refer to zeitgeist rather than individual advancement or reconciliation...

The TRUE answer is in the translating of the Hebrew words, not the english words.
The Peshitta: follows all other translations with the same mistake.
