In response to Dragons post here with this;

I found the "Slave Species of God" by Michael Tellinger to bring up some interesting points.
Comment: it lays a foundation for understanding Human History.

I made the following comment and thus sidetracked the Sitchen thread. Sorry.

, , , and I thought that the document most call the bible did that, , ,

Not even close, just my point of view here.

The bible or document, is a collection of ancient stories to suppress free thinking.

Remember Eve.
Understanding and the gaining of knowledge, was what got her and Adam in trouble.
Of course they had been forbidden to, gain knowledge that is.
Keep them dumb, so to speak.
Much the same as plantation owners did their slaves.

Broke the All Mighty rules.

Can't have any rule breaking, now can we ?

I have to make a comment about "rule breaking". I would extend this analogy regarding the "tree of knowledge". As a parent, you teach your children many, many things that could be perceived as "rules". For example, don't touch the hot burner or you will get burned. One might perceive this to be defined as a rule, rather than a lesson in life. Consequences abound from every action one takes, whether good or evil. The tree of knowledge was not an actual tree whose fruit gave you knowledge, it was simply a "test", to see if they trusted their creator / parent. Thus, free will. We all live with rules, whether self imposed, government imposed, parental and environmental, etc. etc. etc. Would not a responsible parent insure their children's safety and provide them guidance based on their experience and knowledge? It's no different with our Father.

I agree Bobbi, that reminded me of my dad when I was a kid and he and my mom were going on vacation and saying NO parties while we are gone...or i'll kick your butts..made me laugh.. but my point is that would be the samething ..i did have the party the first vacation some things got broke... after that we had them at someone elses house. I learned my lesson

Sometimes father knows best.
Like if the parent just KNOWS that the kids are not capable of responsibly accessing and wielding the power that comes with, say ... physics that lead to advanced physics that leads technology that can be weaponized to the point it can destroy a planet.

Sorry Bobbi, my father joined the ancestors over thirty years ago.

Oh, wait you mean our father in heaven, sorry, no relation to me.

Ah, but did your father throw you out of your home?

Did he threaten you with pain and suffering?

Did he tell his children that 2/3 would be killed for not listening to him?

If he did, sounds like child abuse.

ya know, now that I think about it, If I had a dollar for everytime my dad or my mom said that famous saying parents say "I brought you into this world so i can take you out" I'd be rich..
I grew up in an Italian family in NYC and got my but kick all the time, yelled at and threatened too..by my parents. I think that's what made me a good honest person. knowing what would happen if I didn't do the right thing. my mom would have never have let my dad kick me out cause then she wouldn't have anyone to hit with the wooden spoon. :D and I think I turned out ok. I have a ton of friends every one of them would do anything for me and I the same for them, now that i'm grown if i need anything my dad is there for me. and he treat's me like a man no more threats or beatings. and I nyself have been told I'm an outstanding father.. but how do you know that 2/3 are going to die ??? maybe he just said it to scare us into doing the right thing.. we don't know but i guess we'll find out..

Sounds like tough love especially when the kids treat the parent like shit.

Sounds more like an angry, self centered, blood thirsty, Tyrant.

Oh, and thanks for renaming the thread, I am honored.
But, it really was not necessary.

Yes, and so many young ones have said that of their parents also, only to find out later, and sometimes too late, that Father knew best after all.

I would have to agree that what you are saying is true of what many religions that use the document (as a religious writing) try to depict him as. Or, is that your true view point from your own research of the bible?
