Very old business, I know but... I am still not used to the way you guys post messages around here. I still don't have my brain trained to look in the top right corner for such stuff. So please don't think I am ignoring you, or anyone else... Old dog, gnu tricks.
The size of a post in the messages is limited, and once I typed it all, I wasn't just going to delete it, so...
I have a question though, what does kelptocracy mean, is it the same as Socialism?
Hi Gale;
kleptocracy is a slang term, basically an aristocracy of kleptomaniacs.
Idea being a powerful group, who run the state. They do this for the purpose of looting as much as they can carry, using the authority of the state, to conduct their business. Examples:
Fascism. This is a badly mis-used word. Primarily because it doesn't offer much in the way of context, so it often winds up meaning what ppl want. ("I don't know what it is, but if they call you that it's something bad")
The other name for it, which is more descriptive comes from Musolini. He called it Corporatism. Basically it means collusion between business forces, and govt forces to achieve ends beneficial to one, or both centers of power. You know, like when we invade a country, "freeing them", and then give "ours companies" the reconstruction contracts to fix what we blew up, then give ourselves, or try to, the oil contracts to replace the ones now null and void, because we tore down the previous govt. (but wait... everyone knows that can't happen here). or a
Military Industrial Complex (We'd never do that either, after all, Ike warned us not to).
Socialism? This only enters into the equation, as a control mechanism, really. By the govt control of who enters into business sectors large enough to be of consequence, govt, and it's corporate partners get a handle on who they share power with. Also, by using it's "friendlier face", public services. This "kindness" helps keep the people from revolting. It also matters not to the "kleptocracy" because it's all paid for by taxes on those they wish to keep in line. genius, really.
A "true socialist" is just someone who doesn't really object to any of this, they just think it needs to be done, it just needs the proper intent, to make it all right. Their intent, of course.
And naturally, anyone who thinks all of this is NOT govt's job, and only wants govt to do two things well:
1. Stay outa my life.
2. Stay outa my wallet.
(like me) well, they are the real dangerous ones, so they call you things like anarchist, socialist, communist, or (gasp!) Libertarian.
Having typed all that I just noticed a typo. Don't know if it was yours, or mine you picked up from a post; but if you really meant:
"kelptocracy"... This is a nautical term, having to do with your prop being fouled up in a bunch of kelp. Said kelp will continue to tangle itself up, and will eventually drag you and your lil boat down with endless entanglements. So I guess, on reflection, it means about the same thing. ;)
