If you use FireFox, and don't know about this...
If you post to forums a lot...

Then you will love this cool add-on called
Text Formating Toolbar

It's basically a simple text editor you can write, and save (see 2 below) files with, but with a text formatting toolbar which can seitch between (see1 below) BBCode, HTML, or WikiCode. Handy as hell, because you can essentially compose "offline" in forums, meaning you don't have to use the forum's editor in "respond mode". but at your leisure, then copy paste the whole thing into a reply box. Voila!

Editor lets you use different coding

Editor lets you save the files coding intact.

Now, I normally use it as a separate window, as seen here. It can also be used as just a toolbar on the main browser window, but I don't find that as useful, myself.

You can get it at FireFox's add-ons section at:
https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/4763

In fact this pic in here, has this post in the screen shot, complete!

, , , me, well I just use an html editor or visio tech as my basic typing programs and then copy paste to the forums. I always have a copy of ALL I post. Besides, I usually copy the threads off to my computer also that I post in.

SeaMonkey doesn't have an addon for text editing...

Can anyone recommend a good free bbcode html editing tool... WITH a spell check? :biggrinjester:

ah.... the basic editing screen within the "Format Tool Composer", as it's called in the Tools menu once installed, is actually a kind of "form". This means that the spellchecker you have turned on/installed within FireFox also works within this editor.

In fact this word --> FireFox <-- is highlighted as I type, and right-clicking on it gives me the following alternate entries:
Fire Fox
Firefox
Firebox
Add To Dictionary

Izat what ya meant?

PS: Izat offers me among the list of corrections, Izak, Izaak, Izanami, Izabel, and Izanagi. :P

And for the terminally curious:
Izanagi: In Japanese Shinto-mythology, the primordial sky, the god of all that is light and heavenly.
