We have suspected some things about Aryes Rock, AU for quite some time. This could be a long shot, yet there are just too many similarities to ignore as "chance". Notice the lineal lines of pot holes along the surface, very similar to Phobos of Mars. Weathering erosion has caused some alterations to them. But not on Phobos. Google Earth Maps show some remarkable images.

Photo Gallery: Uluru (Ayers Rock) (http://www.sacred-destinations.com/australia/uluru-ayers-rock-pictures/index.htm)

There is a gallery of several images of Ayers Rock, but still areas that are not permitted to be photographed.

The other day I was on MS Flight Sim X with Russ ( a fellow live aboard boater) we decided to see what Uluru / Ayers Rock looked like. Well it just happens to be one of the areas that is in high resolution. (As are the pyramids.) The flight sim uses satellite images to make it as realistic as possible. Yes, it shows the same images that we have from the satellite images, yet you can fly around it seeing it from all angles. We also noted that in the topography maps it shows a crater type of depression and leveling around it compared to the rest of the area of land. We noticed this first in the flight sim map and then later in the topography maps from surveys. Most interesting. Also of interest is the old air strip just NE of the rock that is over 4,000 feet long which has been over planted intentionally.

The following is our official notice of discovery of two suspected new crater finds;
1. Uluru / Ayers Rock, AU by Gale Smart and Norval L. Cunningham being a crater made by an impactor from space. A meteor crater. May 23, 2009

2. 55 miles E by SE of Uluru and 10 miles S of the bend in highway 4, is another possible meteor crater discovered by Russel Beery, May 23, 2009

Restored the pictures so you can now see them.

Note the old air strip in the upper right area?
Note the road around the outside encloses the old air strip?

Damn! I just noticed that to see those images one has to be signed in! Crap ! !
This software is starting to piss me off big time! LOL

That the air strip is in the enclosed area is a big indicator that this was a military perimeter fence. Also note that if you go onto google you can see that the air strip has been replanted with vegetation. Obviously planted in rows. My guess is that it was decommissioned about thirty to fifty years ago.
Of interest;
The graveyard south, just to the right of the light blue dirt mounds. It's location compared to the new settlement north and east of it.
The difference between older images on Bing search is interesting also.
