Of course they usually don't listen and I end up issuing a warning and eventually banning them.
Makc, on the other hand, is more forceful and takes the Red Queen approach, which seeing the end result is the same, I have to admit is much more efficient.
Another problem we have is spammers advertising urls with which the Asterisk* doesn't wish to be associated. These we usually give no warning and immediately ban them.

BTW: That little misleading url in your signature fallls into this category. Please remove it.

Oh, damn, I had forgotten to update that url since we combined a couple web sites (over a year ago). Thanks for the reminder. I'll update that APOD Bio page and then repost it in my signature. Thanks again.

Even if you can't admit it, I raise a valid question that has caused many to stop posting at this forum because of that very fact.

Do not post links to any site with which the Asterisk* would not wish to be associated, whether or not you really have bio info there.

Some legitimate posters have quit posting because they got tired of seeing the garbage. The not so legitimate posters have left because they were warned off or banned outright. We do not condone pseudo-scientific babble or conspiracy theories. There are other forums available for that junk.

Then, I ask you for that list of sites of "disassociation" by Asterisk*, thank you in advance.

We have received awards from several well known web sites, for craterchains.com which we don't bother to display, that are constantly referred to by members here. If I were you I would be very carefull about "slander" as it is a prosecutable offence, even in Oklahoma, and we do record all comunications. (Your posts and PMs as an example) You may want to defer this attitude of yours to RJN. Or, I will. Or even his boss.

When it comes to, as you say, "condone pseudo-scientific babble", you may want to review this thread.

Unfortunately, you did not abide by the stated online rules for The Asterisk forum. These rules have been online here:

Even disregarding the truth of your accusations, your statement appears to me to be impolite, not nice, and an attack. And this is only one example.

As you seem to want to be on a first name basis, I'll go with that. So, Robert, how have you been lately? Getting ready for the holidays and all the good cheer and food it brings? My wife and I hang a few lights in the windows of our boat to give others a bit of cheer. Ahhhh but her cooking is what I look forward to most this holiday season. She is a great cook. I do hope you are fairing as well.

Well, enough of the pleasantries and personals, on to the matter at hand, your sorrow. Do not feel sorry that you could not be more positive on this occasion. To be truthful, and in fact, you were very positive in your email to me. This interchange at the Ass Tricks Forum provided me with the last piece of information I wanted to verify in our research of forums.

As I understand it, my ban is in effect untill Mon Jan 11, 2010 2:29 pm. It is noted that there is no indication of banning at the forum so that others can see who is banned. Your suggestion is noted also.
